Warning for weather and increased risk of flooding.

Heavy rain is forecasted in the south and southeast parts with rising temperatures this afternoon, Thursday, and until tomorrow evening. The largest impact can be expected around mountains and glaciers in the south and southeastern parts with over 250 mm of accumulated runoff.

The heaviest downfall is expected from Öræfi in the west to Seyðisfjörður in the east. Warnings are issued  for increased waterlevels in rivers in this area, especially near Lón and Álftafjörður.  Local flooding can be expected.
Considerable rain can also be expected again in these parts on Saturday evening.

People are advised to consider this when travels are planned and to check the Road administration website http://www.road.is and Safetravel before travelling http://www.safetravel.is.
People are also advised to check and clear drains so water can escape easily.  Alongside increased downfall, the risk of landslides is increased.
