Ríkislögreglustjóri í samráði við lögreglustjórann á Suðurnesjum lýsir yfir óvissustigi Almannavarna vegna jarðskjálftahrinu á Reykjanesskaga. Jarðskjálftahrina hófst snemma í morgun 25. október og er enn í gagni.
Íbúar eru hvattir til þess að huga að lausa- og innanstokksmunum sem geta fallið við jarðskjálfta og huga sérstaklega að því að ekki geti fallið lausamunir á fólk í svefni. Veðurstofa Íslands hefur einnig vakið athygli á því að grjóthrun og skriður geti farið af stað í brattlendi og því er gott að sýna aðgát við brattar hlíðar.
Óvissustig Almannavarna þýðir að aukið eftirlit er haft með atburðarás sem á síðari stigum gæti leitt til þess að heilsu og öryggi fólks, umhverfis eða byggðar verði ógnað. Að lýsa yfir óvissustigi er hluti af verkferlum í skipulagi Almannavarna til að tryggja formleg samskipti og upplýsingagjöf á milli viðbragðsaðila. Á óvissustigi fara viðbragðsaðilar og stofnanir yfir áætlanir sínar og viðbúnað.

The National Police Commissioner, in consultation with the Suðurnes police authorities, have declared a Civil Protection Service Level of Uncertainty due to the earthquake on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The series of earthquakes began this morning, October 25th and is ongoing.
Residents in the southwestern part of the country are encouraged to pay attention to loose objects and objects inside the home that could tumble or shift during an earthquake, and show particular care with regard to loose objects that could drop onto people while they are sleeping.
